Spades Card Game Rules Case Study
Filed Under Online SpadesLet us consider a typical example to understand the application of the spades card game rules for losing points in bids, nils, tricks and overall scoring.
As we know there are going to be 4 players. Two of them will make a team. Consider an example where South and North make a team and East and West make a team.
After the cards are dealt:
• South claims to win 3 rounds (tricks) and he bids 3
• North claims to win 2 rounds (tricks) and he bids 2
• East is not sure if he will win and so he bids nil, which is zero.
• West claims to win 5 rounds (tricks) and he bids 5
After the game:
• South won 4 tricks, which is one trick more than what he did bid.
• North won 1 trick, which is one trick less than what he did bid.
• East did not win any tricks as he claimed.
• West won 8 tricks, which is 3 more than what he did bid.
Combining the bids of each team:
• South plus North, the team claimed to win 5 tricks, together they won 5 tricks, so they get 50 points.
• East plus West, the team claimed to win 5 tricks, together they won 8 tricks, so they get 50 points (5 x 10 = 50) plus (3 tricks won in extra) = 53 points in total. Since East bid nil and did not win they get 100 points in bonus! Totally they get 153 points, and there are 3 bags accumulated until far due to winning overtricks.
The game will be continued until any team wins 500 points or looses with –300 points.
